Settling Down

I thought I better update after a month of moving and unpacking. I finally feel like I live somewhat normal. As of now we are renting and the place is fully furnished, so we don't need a lot of our stuff.

We thought that all of our belongings would fit into this 26' beaut, but on that cold, snowy Monday morning we made a quick trip to Morris to pick up a 12' trailer to follow the Expedition. I wish I took a picture of our train. Rustin and Grace drove this pulling the Saturn on a dolly. Eden and I were in the Expedition pulling the trailer. There was not an empty hole for nothing or no one. If we had to do it over we probably would go with a different company. This truck was not designed for Minnesota snow! It was stuck atleast 6 times during our hauling. Most of them in our alley.
This was one room of the house on Monday morning. All of them basically looked like this. Grace was getting a little frustrated at having no room to play and nothing to play with.
As you know we picked the worst week in 100 years to travel to Illinois. Ah, the memories! We made it to Jackson, Mn monday afternoon and decided we had enough sliding around for the day. At one point I almost rear ended Rustin. Thankfully I slid right up next to him. Lets just say it wasn't fun driving. Grace got a little swimming in that night and we got up bright and early to maybe make it all the way. The roads got much better closer to Iowa and we made great time until we hit Cedar Rapids. It started to snow and accumulate and we knew we had 3 hours left on good roads. After talking with Il people we decided it would be wiser to stay in Coralville(Ia City) than to get stuck somewhere between Moline and Peoria. At that point I thought we would be staying there 2 nights. Grace would get in plenty of swimming! Unfortunately she got the flu sometime during the night and it lasted until the next afternoon. I think this was God's way of telling us, you are going nowhere... just stay put another night. By Wednesday afternoon Rustin was going crazy so he went out and dug out the vehicles. Since Grace was still sick, we took separate walks to the mall by our motel. By the evening Grace was better so she was able to go swimming one last time. We were on the road by 7 on Thursday morning and made it to Tremont by 10:30. After seeing all the vehicles in the ditch, we were glad we waited the storm out. The rest of the day was spent unloading all vehicles and we are finally all unpacked!

We bought a new camera, so Grace gets the old one. She is very excited. I think she shows some promise.

Since we've moved we started Eden on baby food. She gobbles it right up and is usually asking for more.

Grace is still the one who can make Eden laugh/smile the best.
